Use this polynucleotide kinase to:

• phosphorylate 5´-ends of DNA or RNA
• label 5´-hydroxyl ends of DNA or RNA with [γ-³²P]-ATP (either by direct phosphorylation or by phosphate exchange)
• remove 3´-phosphates from RNA or DNA without altering their 5´-ends (at low pH only)

Brief description: This bacterial preparation of polynucleotide kinase catalyzes the transfer of the terminal phosphate group of ATP to the 5´-hydroxyl terminus of DNA or RNA. It also can catalyze exchange of 5´-terminal phosphate groups. In addition, the enzyme has a 3´-phosphatase activity (only at low pH).
