Application
Fast, sensitive and specific colorimetric assay for the quantitative determination of neutral α-glucosidase in life science research applications. The measurement is performed exclusively in human semen samples as a parameter for the evaluation of male infertility.

Principle
The sample is incubated at neutral pH in the presence of SDS assuring that only neutral α-glucosidase from epididymis is measured. α-Glucosidase cleaves 4-nitrophenol from the substrate 4-nitrophenyl-α-D-glucopyranoside yielding a yellow color which can be measued in cuvettes or microplates.

Quality
The assay is linear between 2 mU/ml and 45 mU/ml. Intra-assay variances are only 1 - 3%; inter-assay variances are up to 5%.
